Error: can't load configuration file

I had VS 2005 RC installed along with the Sep CTP of SQL Server (tools only)
and it was working fine.
Then I installed VS 2003 on that same machine. Now, everytime I lauch VS
2005 I get this message:
The configuration file RSReportDesigner.config could not be loaded.
The type initializer for "Microsoft.ReportingServices.Library.Global"
threw an exception.
I don't even use reporting services. Does anyone know how to make this
error go away?
TIA,

error: 26 - error locating server/instance specified

My machine is WinXP with SP2. I installed SQL Server 2005 Developer
Edition on my machine last week, and I could bring up the Microsoft
SQL Server Management Studio fine, no error.
Today in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio when I tried to
connect to machinename\SQL2005 (the SQL 2005 instance), I got the
error:
"An error has occured while establishing a connection to the server.
when connecting to sql server 2005, this failure may be caused by the
fact that under the default settings sql server does not allow remote
connections. (provider: sql network interfaces, error: 26 - error
locating server/instance specified)(microsoft sql server)"
But, I am not trying to connect to it remotely, the SQL Server 2005 is
on my machine.
In the Start >> Programs >> Microsoft SQL Server 2005 >> Configuration
Tools >> SQL Server 2005 Surface Area Configuration >> Surface Area
Configuration for Services and connections
"Local and remote connections" is not selected.
How can I fix this problem ?
Thank you.
Never mind.
On the "Server name", i click on Browse more and select the instance
from there, I guess the machinename is different today than last week.
So, I selected that one and now it works.
THanks

Error: 18456, Severity: 14, State: 16.

I'm getting login errors when trying to run reports both locally on the
report server and remotely on a client machine.
This is the error I get:
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
Cannot create a connection to data source 'RequestDataSource'.
(rsErrorOpeningConnection)
Cannot open database "<database name>" requested by the login. The login
failed. Login failed for user "<domain\username>".
Here's what I see in my SQL log:
2007-02-26 14:44:49.88 Logon Error: 18456, Severity: 14, State: 16.
2007-02-26 14:44:49.88 Logon Login failed for user <domain\username>.
[CLIENT: <local machine>]
The user is a domain admin and has full rights to all the databases on the
database server.
Any insight would be apprecaited. Thanks! On Feb 26, 1:57 pm, Henry <H...@.discussions.microsoft.com> wrote:

Sometimes this occurs when the datasource has not yet been set up -or-
has not been set up correctly.

I'm currently using SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC (with
SelectMethod=Cursor). From SQL Profiler, I do see alot of sp_cursorfetch
calls that don't have a corresponding sp_cursorclose.
Help is greatly appreaciated here!SQL ran out of free buffers (Free=0). You should probably apply the latest
SQL Server hotfix and update JDBC drivers to prevent problems such as 818095
and 837957. In addition, there are changes in the latest SQL hotfixes which
allow Lazy Writer to run more aggressively when it detects a low number of
free buffers.
If the problems persist engage MS product support and have them check your
server for additional leaks.

Error while trying to deploy SSIS Package

Hi,
I am trying to deploy a DTSX package to 32-bit SQL Server 2005 in a 64-bit machine from my installer.
I am getting the following error in the SaveToSQLServer method:
The SaveToSQLServer method has encountered OLE DB Error code 0x80004005 (Communication Link Failure). The SQL statement that was issued has failed.
However I am not facing this problem when I try to deploy the DTSX package to a 32-bit SQL Server 2005 in a 32-bit machine.
Can anyone tell me why this happens and how this could be solved?
Thanks,
Sandhya

It sounds like you're doing this through BIDS now, which is fine but as a debug step will Management Studio even let you import the package in? That will prove you have connectivity to the SSIS service. You'll need port 135 open to the server to your box if you haven't already done so. Another tactic is to create a deployment utility and deploy the entire project. You may already know that one but just in case, here's a video to walk you through that series of steps: http://www.jumpstarttv.com/Media.aspx?vid=28.

Hi,

I tried importing the packages. I was able to do that successfully. Still when I tried to install, the packages were not gettign deployed. So I reinstalled SQL server 2005 and tried. It worked. But when I try installing my solution repeatedly, the same error occurs. Why does this happen?

Error while trying to connect to another SQL Server Express machine

The error states:

Additional Information:
An error has occured while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that unthe default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections.

How do I correct this issue?

Thanks,

Steve C.

By default, SQL Server 2005 Express Edition disables network access / remote connections. This is for security purposes. We want this enabled explicitly should someone have a need for it. Here is a KB article that talks about ways to enable remote connections http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb%3bEN-US%3b914277

Thank You

Ajay

Error while linking server to Active Directory service

I need to retrieve information from LDAP in SQL Server 2000.
I have installed SQL Server 2000 on a machine with Windows XP Professional
(SP2).
When I execute this script inside Query Analyzer:
EXEC sp_addlinkedserver 'ADSI', 'Active Directory Services 2.5',
'ADSDSOObject', 'adsdatasource'
GO
and then I open tables or views of linked server this error appears:
"Error 7301: It is impossible to obtain from OLE DB provider 'ADSDSOObject'
a necessary interface..."
Can I solve this issue?
Where I can find a good documentation about SQL Server 2000 and LDAP?
Many thanksI read that I can ignore this problem (it's normal!),
but I have another error.
I run SQL Server service with my domain account, I add my SQL Server istance
to Active directory inside Enterprise Manager, I create the linked server how
documented with access by my domain account.
Finally, I execute this query in Query Analyzer:
SELECT * FROM OpenQuery( ADSI, 'SELECT *
FROM "LDAP://" ')
having this error:
Message 7321, Level 16, State 2, Row 1
OLE DB error trace [OLE/DB Provider 'MSOLAP' ICommandPrepare::Prepare
returned 0x80040e14]
Any suggests to solve this issue?

Error While Installing SQLServer CE

Hi,
I'm attempting to install SQL Server CE on a freshly built Windows XP (IIS 5.1).
I am an administrator on the machine.
I have run Windows Update on the Server, installed .NET Framework 1.1 SP1
and SQL Server 2000 with Service pack ...SP3a.
My Sql Server Registration lists the Product Version as 8.00.760.
I have attempted to install SQL Server CE using the setup.exe version
2.11.15.0 and sqlce20sql2ksp3a.exe version 2.11.15.0.
I have rebooted the machine.
I still get the error "SQL Server CE Server Tools is compatible only with
SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 1 or higher. etc..."
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Sailu

Try running MSI (You can extract sqlce20sql2ksp3a.exe into a folder and get the MSI). This is a work around. But, one thing cleear is why Version Check by setup.exe fails.

Error while creating assembly

I am trying to create an assembly on a sql server 2005 machine but it gives me following error:

Msg 33009, Level 16, State 2, Line 2
The database owner SID recorded in the master database differs from the database owner SID recorded in database 'XYZ'. You should correct this situation by resetting the owner of database 'XYZ' using the ALTER AUTHORIZATION statement.

I tried using the alter authorization statement to change the owner.
It did not work.

I am able to create same assembly on another test database but can not create it on this database.

Is this because of orphan logins?

Thanks for the help.

Harshal.Hi

Was this db attached from another instance or upgraded from 2k?

I have had this problem - changing the owner is simple. What do you mean by it didn't work? It should be pretty easy e.g.

USE Mydb
GO

EXEC dbo.sp_changedbowner @.loginame = N'sa', @.map = false
GO|||More info:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918040|||Thanks for the reply.
Yes this database was restored from a backup taken from another machine. I fixed the orphaned user and changed the db owner to other user. but still the error persists. though i did not change sa owner.
will try fixin the SA login.
