After installing SP3, the server hangs with Error: 17883, Severity: 0,
State: 1. Process 0:0 (a04) UMS Context 0x105BB428 appears to be
non-yielding on Scheduler 0.
MS03-031 does not resolve this problem.

instructor at Sql Connections last week. He said the error is too
internal for troubleshooting other than by MS.
I have setup a black box trace and an alert. The alert will fire on
17883 stopping the black box trace and doing a dbcc stackdump. When
it happens again I'll open a ticket with Microsoft and send off the
files.

It seems like the service pack did not install completely, which
happens from time to time. Try to uninstall the service pack or search
online for the Microsoft service pack removal executable (don't quote
me on the name) and try to reinstall the SP. Also, make sure that you
have the correct SP2 installation file as well. Hope this helps.

Error with install of sept CTP Enterprise edition

Does SQL Server 2005 Sept CTP not support installation on XP? When I am installing, it gives me a warning that some things may not work with this OS, then when I get to the next screen I can't install anything.

Have you checked the pre-requisites such as .NET framework and IE version etc.
BTW what is the edition of XP & edition of CTP used?|||I am trying to install the september ctp enterprise edition on a machine with xp/sp2. I have reviewed the prereqs and I meet all of them. It says XP with sp2 and 512 ram; both are satisfied. I don't see any prereqs for .NET and I think that is because it installs .NET 2.0 when it installs. Any other ideas?|||Here is the warning I get when starting the install of the september CTP Enterprise version on a machine with XP/SP2 installed. If i continue to the components available for install, then the only thing enabled is 'Workstation components, ...'. All the actual database stuff is disable for install.

|||Enterprise Edition needs a server OS. You can install Express, Workgroup, Std and Developer Editions on XP, ie Desktop OS's|||I figured that was the problem. However, the download site does list XP/SP2 as a compatible OS for the enterprise edition. The bullet below was copied directly from the download page.

Error While Installing SQLServer CE

Hi,
I'm attempting to install SQL Server CE on a freshly built Windows XP (IIS 5.1).
I am an administrator on the machine.
I have run Windows Update on the Server, installed .NET Framework 1.1 SP1
and SQL Server 2000 with Service pack ...SP3a.
My Sql Server Registration lists the Product Version as 8.00.760.
I have attempted to install SQL Server CE using the setup.exe version
2.11.15.0 and sqlce20sql2ksp3a.exe version 2.11.15.0.
I have rebooted the machine.
I still get the error "SQL Server CE Server Tools is compatible only with
SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 1 or higher. etc..."
Does anyone have any ideas?

Try running MSI (You can extract sqlce20sql2ksp3a.exe into a folder and get the MSI). This is a work around. But, one thing cleear is why Version Check by setup.exe fails.

Error while installing SQL2k sp3 (on Win2k Server) - First Post

Hi all... I'm new here and maybe u guys/gals can help me out with a little (actually it's pretty big) problem.

I've searched through this forum, but could not find anything like my problem in here...

Here's the problem:

I'm running Win2000 (SP3) server with SQL Server 2000 (Developer Edition).
I installed all recent hotfixes for Win2K and SQL2K but I didn't make it to install SP3 for SQL Server 2000. This morning I had time to install it and so i tried to.

The first things of the installing procedure went fine... But when it started to execute the scripts something went horrible wrong... When it was executing script nr. 4 (don't know the name of the script, sorry) it told me it had problem executing this script.

I then clicked OK and the installation procedure was aborted by the machine, without any messages that could help me get further.

I then rebooted the machine and tried to install again. When I started to install procedure it checked my authentication (both times I was logged in as administrator) and told me it could not start the procedure because I do not have persmission. Also when I try start the install procedure by using the SA account, it fails.

Does anybody have any suggestions for me

When I attempt to install MS SQL Server evaluation copy (downloaded
from Microsoft site) on Windows 2K Professional getting following
error.

Setup initialization error.
The system cannot find the path specified.

Source file or directory missing or cannot be read:
'C:\SQLEVAL\x86\setup..\System\sqlunirl.dll'

Please help.

You need to have IIS installed on your machine for Reporting Service to get installed.

Error while installing RS2005

pls let me know the correct way of installing RS2005

i have ISS running with my application running on it. i am not able to install rs 2005 now.

should i remove my application, clean the ISS , install rs 2005 and later my application or what ? or should the ISS be stopped before installing , if so how to stop or disconnect the ISS from running....

pls help me out

What I suggest you :

- Uninstall IIS and Asp.Net Components (v1.1 and v2)
- Restart
- Install IIS and Asp.Net through the Server Management Wizard
- Install SQL 2005

What are the errors when you install RS2005? The setup wizard should tell you.

To stop IIS, run "iisreset /stop".
