Error xp_cmdshell

I'm having the hardest problem. My input values are of datetime and the cha
racter string that I'm creating is giving me an error saying can't convert d
atetime to char. Is what I'm trying to do possible?
Thanks in advance for your help.
set @.dcmd = 'exec master.dbo.xp_cmdshell ''osql -Sservername -E -o ' + rtri
m(@.cmd) + ' -Q" set nocount off;select * from table_one b, table_two m where
b.table_one_1 = m.table_two_2 and b.table_one_1= m.table_two_2 and date (th
is is a date time value) be
tween ' + (date time value) + ' and ' + end date time value + ''', no_output
'
Because @.dcmd is of varchar and the parms that I'm trying to send it is date
time nothing seems to work. I can't even put quotes around it because it r
efuses to run without it.You have to explictly convert your 2 parameters into a character format
using the CONVERT function if you want to get them into the string.

Error with Execute sql task and full result set: " not been initialized before calling 'Fi

This is the first time I've tried creating an "execute sql task" with a "full result set".

I've read in the documentation that I must set the resultname to 0, which is done, and that the variable must be of type object. Also done.

[Execute SQL Task] Error: Executing the query "select * from blah" failed with the following error: "The SelectCommand property has not been initialized before calling 'Fill'.". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.

Has anyone else had success with a full result set?

Thanks,
-Lori

Yes. I have an example doing exactly this here:

SSIS Nugget: Execute SQL Task into an object variable - Shred it with a Foreach loop
(http://blogs.conchango.com/jamiethomson/archive/2005/07/04/1748.aspx)

-Jamie

|||Jamie,

The variable *is* of type Object (i believe i mentioned that).
Since this fails, I cannot move forward with the foreach loop.

I'm using 64bit sql server but debugging in Run64BitRuntime as False.

Any other ideas?

Yes you did. You also asked if anyone else has had any success which I have and was giving you a downloadable example of it working which I thought might be useful to you.

Afraid not. Without being there its hard to say what the problem might be.

|||I noticed that you said in your blog, "just update the connection to point to your sql server". I thought I should mention that I'm actually trying to run this against a mysql server, with an ADO.net connection. I don't think that should matter, but who knows?

I will then update my question to be:

I'd bevery surprised if that was anything to do with it but who knows - give it a try.

Also note that my example used OLE DB Connection Manager rather than ADO.Net. That could be an avenue of investigation also.

Error with attributeKey

Hi everybody,

I have a problem while creating my cube.

In my database i have two tables

Article (ArticleKey, Libelle, ...) articleKey is the pk

FactStock (stockKey, ArticleKey,...) strockKey is the PK and articleKey reference column articleKey in article table. There is integrity constraint between this two columns

In BIDS, when i try to mount my cube with this two lments and others. i have an error : "Erreurs dans le moteur de stockage OLAP : La cl d'attribut est introuvable : Table : dbo_factStocks, Colonne : ArticleKey, Valeur : 47107" . So, I search help on web and I found this page : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922673/en-us .
So i try element that was written on it. but it doesn't seems to work. If I check existence of an article with the articlekey value of 47107. I found one item. So my question is : Why? If the article exists why i have this error?

Christophe

Hi Christophe,

The page you referenced mentions that: "This behavior may occur when you have not processed the corresponding dimension before you process the cube". Assuming that you have an Article dimension, did you process it and confirm that the article with articlekey value of 47107 appears when you browse the dimension data?

|||

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. You are right. This was the origin of the error. The value wasn't in my dimension when in browse it.

Error while invoking AcquireConnections(null)

Hi, I have a windows service which is configured to login under the "local System Account". and the windows service is actually creating a SSIS package and running it. however, it was running good with out any problem. but we had to uninstall and again reinstall the windows service and after that it is generating an error "Exception from HRESULT: 0xC020801C" when ever it is invoking the

Instance.AcquireConnections(null);

The connection string that is given for the connection manager is as follows

Data Source=ORION\OFFICESERVERS;Initial Catalog=CDBDBase;Integrated Security=SSPI;User Id=;Password=;Provider=SQLNCLI.1;Auto translate=false"

What is the wrong here-can any body kindly suggest? I have tried with the following too

Data Source=ORION\OFFICESERVERS;Initial Catalog=CDBDBase;Integrated Security=SSPI;Provider=SQLNCLI.1;Auto translate=false"

Does SSIS need to have a connection string with SSPI always? is there any way to use a sql authenlication for this purpose? like using sql user name and password in connection string? Please suggest me. I need it badly.

You can use SQL authentication in SSIS. Remove "Integrated Security = SSPI;", and replace it with "Uid=myUsername;Pwd=myPassword;"

Try this link for help with connection strings: http://www.connectionstrings.com/

|||Do you think I need to use the "provider=SQLNCLI.1 ; auto translate = false" when I will use the SQL authentications? The provider determines which OLEDB driver you are using - if you omit it, the connect string won't be valid. Auto translate is optional, but I'd leave it in there.|||

Error while deploying CLR Assembly.

Hi,
I am using Whidbey and Yukon. I am creating a CLR SP in whidbey and trying
to deploy. I am getting the following error,
Error: Failed to initialize the .NET Framework: 0x80004005(Unspecified
error). You need to restart server to access .NET Framework functionality.
Any one any ideas as whatz going wrong?
Sameer D.As both are in beta, there are dozens of reasons you could be having problem
s.
1. The builds of Yukon and Whidbey are incompatible
2. The version of the .NET Framework installed is incompatible with Yukon
3. You have a bad install (possible with beta builds, more possible with CTP
builds)
Without understanding more about what you have installed, I can only venture
a wild guess about the reason it is blowing up.

I have a VPC with Whidbey and have installed Yukon on host machine. There is
no way that there may be any compatibility issue, as I was able to build and
deploy the CLR Stored Procs from Whidbey. I tried restarting the host and ma
y
that has caused problem. I tried restarting the Yukon, tried installing
framework 2.0, tried to execute CLR SPs in yukon no luck. However the simple
select statements (T-SQL) execute without any probs. If you have any ideas
suggestions are wel come.

Error while Creating table using Select Command

Hi All,

I am new to MS SQL Server.I am using MS SQL 2000.I have a problem in
creating a table by using Select command.I have table called "test"
and i want to create another table with the same structure and rows.I
tried with the following command

create Table test1 as select * from test;

But it give an syntax error.I have tried the same command in Oracle
but i was working.Does MS SQL 2000 Server supports this kind of Query.

Please help me to solve the problem or any other methods to perform
this operation.

Thanks in Advance

KevinYou can use Query Analyzer to generate the CREATE TABLE statement
automatically from your exsiting table.

CREATE TABLE test1 (col1 INTEGER PRIMARY KEY, col2...)

INSERT INTO test1 (col1, col2,...)
SELECT col1, col2,...
FROM test

You can also use:

SELECT * INTO test1 FROM test

but the CREATE... INSERT method gives you more control over constraints,
etc.

This will create the same structure and take the data with it.

The other option is go to the design of your table, preview a script
of it, and then use this to build the new table (just change the table
name). Once you have the structure of the table, you can create / drop
this as needed within your query (i.e. Create Table ... SELECT
INTO...)

Error while creating subscription in transactional replication!

Hi ALL

I am configuring subscription for a reporting server and getting the following error message .

Any body having any idea would be of great help.

TITLE: New Subscription Wizard

Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio is unable to access replication components because replication is not installed on this instance of SQL Server. For information about installing replication, see the topic Installing Replication in SQL Server Books Online.

For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?ProdName=Microsoft+SQL+Server&ProdVer=9.00.1399.06&EvtSrc=Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.ReplUtilitiesErrorSR&EvtID=ReplicationNotInstalled&LinkId=20476

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

SQL Server replication requires the actual server name to make a connection to the server. Connections through a server alias, IP address, or any other alternate name are not supported. Specify the actual server name, 'CORSTRATASQL01'. (Replication.Utilities)

Hi,
I had similar problems when I want to integrate a publisher into the replication monitor.
I had the problem , when the server is in anothe domain.
So first question is: Is CORSTRATASQL01 in anothe domain then the server you got the error message ?

At last we solve the problem with a reconfiguration of the DNS-suffixes of the TCP/IP properties.

error while creating new sql server login.

while trying to create a new sql server login getting the follwing error:
"You may not be able to browse all of the domains to which you have access
because the following error occurred: Cou;d not find domain controller for

what can be the possible cause of this error?
thanks in advance.

harshalMay be there are multiple domains in your LAN and a two
way trust relationships are established among them.
Possibly one of the domains was a test domain which no
longer exist, thats why you are getting this error.
What happens after this error ? Are you able to add users
from the current domain? As long as you can see users from
your current domain it should be fine.

You have to specify an alias for the columns in the select statement. Change the query to somthing like this:

Code Snippet

SELECT ident_current('orders') AS 'ID'

I hope this answers your question.

Best regards,

Sami Samir

|||Thats easy:

Code Snippet

USE [Northwind]

SET ANSI_NULLS ON

GO

CREATE FUNCTION newIdentity()

RETURNS TABLE

AS

RETURN

(SELECT ident_current('orders') AS Newidentity)

GO

Error while creating credentials

Hi guys

I am trying to run an SSIS package by creating a credential. When I try to create a credential thorugh the Mgmt Studio I get the following error:

An error occurred during encryption. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 15467)

I tried doing it with the following SQL statement and still have the same error:

CREATE CREDENTIAL JayTest WITH IDENTITY = 'domain\username', SECRET = 'password';

GO

My SQL Server 2005 instance is installed on a Windows Server 2003 box and is running under my NT Account as of now.

Thanks
Jay

Can you please indicate the SQL Server version that you are using (copy-paste the results of 'select @.@.version')?

Credential secrets are encrypted by the service master key (SMK), so it looks like this encryption is failing. We'll need a little more information to figure out what is the cause of the failure:

1) Please check if the SMK exists in your server:

use master
go
select * from sys.symmetric_keys where symmetric_key_id = 102
go

2) If the SMK exists, see if it can be used. You can try creating a master key in a new database or regenerating the SMK:

a)

create database testsmk
go
use testsmk
go
create database master key encryption by password = 'some_password'
go
use master
go
drop database testsmk
go

b)

alter service master key regenerate
go

If there is a problem with the SMK, these two should fail. Let us know what errors you get, if any.

3) Finally, check if there is a user profile directory created for the SQL Server service account.

Also, let us know if you changed the service account for SQL Server; this was not supported and would cause problems, although I would expect a decryption error instead of an encryption error in this case.

Thanks
Laurentiu
