error while creating new sql server login.

May be there are multiple domains in your LAN and a two
way trust relationships are established among them.
Possibly one of the domains was a test domain which no
longer exist, thats why you are getting this error.
What happens after this error ? Are you able to add users
from the current domain? As long as you can see users from
your current domain it should be fine.
