Error: Generating Instances in SQL Server is disabled...

Use sp_configure 'user instances enabled' to generate user instances.

I get the above error when I attempt to add an SQL Database item into my VS (C#) project. I do not understand what needs to be done to correct the problem.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank You,

Klaus

From SQL Server 2005 Books Onlinetopic:

user instances enabled Option

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms187513.aspx

The user instance enabled option that you can access through sp_configure is not supported in Microsoft SQL Server 2005. This option works only with SQL Server 2005 Express Edition (SQL Server Express).

For more information about how user instances work, see User Instances for Non-Administrators.

error: Attempt to fetch logical page

Hi,
During an upgrade from sql server 6.5 to sql server 2000 I receive the
follwoing error and the upgrade process remains stuck until terminated
manually:
ODBC error 605 (HY000) Attempt to fetch logical page 1430280 in database
'nice_cls' belongs to object 'NICE_CLS_CALLS_0008', not to object
'NICE_CLS_CALLS_0007'.
I tried using dbcc checkdb and received the same error.
Is there any idea how to address this situation or how to delete the
specific page?
Thanks,
YanivHi Yaniv,
This error occurs when Microsoft SQL Server detects database corruption.
The second object specified in the text not to object '%.*ls' is probably
corrupt. Because this error can mask the existence of other errors, execute
DBCC CHECKDB to determine the extent of the damage.
I am assuming that the corruption is happening on your SQL Server 6.5
server. The best way to recover from corruption is to restore from your
good backup.
I hope this helps !!!
Thanks,
Fargham

Error: 0xC001000E - connection not found

Hello,

Does anyone know what this error means and how to resolve it? I get this error when I attempt to run a Data Flow Task. The Data Flow Task has one subcomponent, a Flat File Source. I have set up the connection manager to access the flat file, which is on a local directory. I have tried everything to fix this. What could possibly be the problem?

Thanks

Error: 0xC001000E at : The connection "{B9E11DD7-21A1-4FD7-986F-6BDC5B81F51D}" is not found. This error is thrown by Connections collection when the specific connection element is not found.

Go in and edit the flat file source - make sure it is pointing at the correct connection manager.

Out of interest, what is the point of a data-flow with only one component in it?

I am just trying to test for now, that is why there is only one component. Why add more components when I can't even get the one to work correctly.

Anyways I resolved the problem... this error was occuring on a DTS migrated pkg. Apparently there are some ghost connections that are persisting, so by starting the pkg from scratch the problem has disappeared. This is my theory anyways.

Ah gotcha. That makes sense.

This error most commonly occurs when you copy tasks/components from one package to another. I know that's not exactly what you've done but its not a huge jump from it. I guess that must be something to do with it.

Glad its fixed anyway.

Yes, the problem (after much testing on my part) ALWAYS crops up when I am trying to run components from a migrated DTS package.

In this case, I have an EXECUTE SQL task, for which I've defined a NEW connection and deleted the old connection completely, and it still throws this error about the connection not existing, even though the sql runs correctly in the database.

I have found that the only solution to this problem is to start the package from scratch, and use the EXECUTE DTS 2000 PACKAGE object instead, instead of trying to run it from the migrated package itself.

error while doing mirroring

I got the following error log from SQL profiler when I tried to start mirroring

"

2006-11-10 11:54:47.28 Logon

Database Mirroring login attempt by user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON.' failed

with error: 'Connection

handshake failed. The login 'NT

AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON' does not have CONNECT permission on the endpoint.

State 84.'. [CLIENT: 10.77.100.86]"

Anybody knows the solution for the same please let me know

Hi,

What is login account your SQL Server start?

Account is the same in both?

Regards,

|||Account is the same in both the SQL servers.|||

I would suggest delete both endpoints in both servers

re-run the Mirror Wizard, give it the AD domain username again, and it'll create the endpoints for you

or it probably uses the authentication you're using when you create the mirror

or try this

/****** Object: Endpoint [Mirroring] Script Date: 11/13/2006 10:31:45 ******/

CREATE ENDPOINT [Mirroring]

AUTHORIZATION [DOMAIN\username]

STATE=STARTED

AS TCP (LISTENER_PORT = 5022, LISTENER_IP = ALL)

FOR DATA_MIRRORING (ROLE = PARTNER, AUTHENTICATION = WINDOWS NEGOTIATE

, ENCRYPTION = DISABLED)
